Summer Tips for Dog Parents

As the months get warmer it's important to keep your pup's health in tip top shape. We made a checklist of several things you can do to make sure your dog is ready for summer:

Visit the veterinarian: Take your dog to the vet for a checkup and make sure all vaccinations are up to date. Your vet can also provide recommendations on flea and tick prevention and other preventative measures.

Protect from the sun: Dogs with light-colored fur and those with thin coats are more susceptible to sunburn. Apply sunscreen made specifically for dogs to any exposed skin, especially on the ears and nose. Dog Sunscreen

Grooming: Regular grooming helps remove dead fur, dirt and debris, which can help keep your dog cooler. It also prevents matting, which can be painful for your dog.

Exercise: Keep your dog active with regular exercise, but avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day. Early morning or evening walks are a good option. Ball Thrower for Fetching

Adjust feeding: Dogs tend to eat less during hot weather. Adjust their feeding accordingly, but make sure they still receive a balanced diet.

Cool Pet Pad

Consider cooling products: There are cooling mats, vests and bandanas available to help keep your dog cool during hot weather. Consider purchasing one of these products if your dog spends a lot of time outdoors. Cooling Mat for Your Pup
