Here's my Autumn Bucket List
Lutsen Family Trip
At the top of my list of things to do during Fall in Minnesota is spend the weekend at Lutsen Resort on the north shore. It's been a family tradition since I was a child and I love carrying on the Autumn road trip journey with my family.
Nature Hikes
I love a relaxing walk down a scenic trail, especially when the leaves begin to change. By myself, with my dog, with my family or friends — every hike I go on fills me up with so much gratitude. The Woodrill Trail in Long Lake, MN is one of my favorites near the Twin Cities.
Thomas’ Birthday
My first fur baby, Thomas, passed away almost 5 years ago now. His birthday was in October and being adopted we never knew the exact day so we'd celebrate him all month long. There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss that sweet boy. He was truly my soulmate, our connection was unreal. We recently launched the Rainbow Bridge Collection designed to help soothe the soul after pet loss. I've been working on this slowly and thoughtfully over the last few years and I am very proud of how it turned out.
Decorating the House
We have small kids so decorating the house for any holiday has become a very fun family activity. I used to dislike all of the cheugy knick knacks and trinkets, but now with the joy of kids to share it with, I've become quite the opposite. Right now our front porch has a skeleton, pumpkins, mums, ghosts, fake crows and snakes — the creepier the better my boys would say.
Annual Halloween Party
To pair with the decor we have started an annual Halloween costume party at our house with all of our family and friends. We go all out and it's become such a fun family tradition to look forward to.
Costumes
Being a fashion designer I obviously can't deny a holiday where we dress up in dramatic outfits. I usually let the kids steer the ship on what they want to be then my husband and I join the theme. This year is a classic Halloween theme with mummy children, my husband as a vampire, and I'll be a witch with my black cat (Jonesy). TBD if he appreciates being a cat.
Matching Hoodies
Oversized hoodies are a must all year round for me — and for my dog, Jonesy. We are creatures of comfort and nothing, and I mean nothing, beats these matching dog and owner hoodies by Dog Club Social. Each color is an absolute dream.
Orchards
Call me basic but I love a good apple orchard, pumpkin patch, fall festival, or what have you. I loved them before we had kids and even more so now.
Baking
Never was I a baker but this season always has me trying to recipes and treats for the fam. Mostly because we end up with too many apples to actually eat :)
Bonfires
The smell, the smores, and cozy snuggles in a warm wool blanket. Nothing is better.
New Healthcare Rituals
I love the changing of seasons for more than the weather and holidays that come with it. For me, the beginning of each season also reminds me to reflect on where I've been and where I want to go. I look to re-balance and add new health rituals to my routine. I recently learned about the positive powers of Reishi Mushrooms from my current favorite podcast, The Bio Alchemy Podcast. I purchased the powder here and have loved adding it to my healthcare routine.
