Does your dog have bad breath? Well this is a common problem many dog owners are faced with. Brushing your pup’s teeth is the first step you can take to help with the smell, and giving them dental chews never hurts either!
But if you have a finicky dog and want to help with keeping good bacteria in their mouths, the smell, while having it be in the form of a nutrient dense treat — this recipe is for you!
Fresh Breath Bites
Ingredients:
1 carrot (chopped finely)
1/4 cup parsley
2 cups oat flour (blend oats into powder)
1/2 cup wheat flour
3 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup water
2 eggs
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350° F degrees. Chop parsley and carrots finely and set aside. Then if you cannot find oat flour, blend your rolled oats in a food processor or blender until they resemble a fine powder. Combine your oat flour with your whole wheat flour.
Moving on, measure your coconut oil and microwave for 20 seconds or until fully melted. Take your wet ingredients and incorporate them until no clumps remain. Slowly add in your flour mixture until the texture is smooth.
Lastly mix in your parsley and carrots until your batter resembles that of a thick pancake recipe. Once your batter is fully mixed, take your nonstick pan and start filling your molds. (In this case we used mini bundt cake shaped molds.)
Place your bites into your preheated oven and back for 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Recipe makes 16 treats but would double if you have smaller half inch molds.
Notes:
You can used dried parsley if you can’t find fresh but I suggest using more if it is dried.
Fresh mint makes a great addition to this recipe.
